Your Next Best Bite is a regular column featuring our recommendations for the most mouthwatering appetizer, entree or dessert that we’ve spotted in our area-wide restaurants.
Our Recommendation: Lorraine quiche
Where: Lancaster County Farmers Market, 389 W. Lancaster Ave., Wayne, 610-687-2221
When asked what the specialty of La Delicatesse is, the friendly ladies behind the counter endorsed this scrumptious pastry. The white menu board DID say they were known for their quiche and “our girls.” So, I trusted them both and I’m glad I did.
The stand, located in the Lancaster County Farmers Market in Strafford, features a wide-variety of salads and appetizers, and my new found obsession.
All the quiches feature a buttery, flaky crimped crust. The menu includes quiches with a number of fillings, such as spinach, three-cheese, and leek. This special day, I tried the Lorraine with bacon and cheese.
It was perfect. This from a girl who doesn’t really like eggs. The ingredients were rich and fresh. The seasoning was well-balanced. The result: a warm and satisfied belly.
Planning a brunch? Save yourself the hassle and pick up a few of La Delicatesse’s 12″ quiches in a variety of flavors to create a lovely buffet. By, the way, the 4″ size was a very filling lunch. And will be for me for many lunches to come.
